Rayman et Assasin's Creed sont les deux stars d'Ubisoft, éditeur et distributeur de jeux vidéo français, créée par les cinq frères Guillemot en 1986, à Carentoir, dans le Morbihan. La petite société s'est très vite développée, notamment via le rachat d'autres studios tel qu'Ivory Tower, basé à Villeurbanne, en 2015. C'est pour installer ses collaborateurs qu'elle a confié la réhabilitation d'un entrepôt de 1 665 mètres carrés datant du début du siècle à l'Atelier 4+. Situé en plein centre-ville, le bâtiment typique en sheds est doté d'une structure acier triangulée qui sera bien entendu conservée. Toute la difficulté pour les architectes a consisté à baigner l'ensemble d'un maximum de lumière naturelle, tout en assurant le confort de ses occupants. Imaginez 150 développeurs, infographistes et autres designers travaillant chacun sur trois ordinateurs en même temps… Entre la chaleur dégagée et la potentielle gène visuelle d'un trop-plein lumineux, il fallait trouver une solution de protection qui n'empêche pas les vues vers l'extérieur.
C'est donc un vitrage électrochrome Climaplus Classic de SageGlass qui a été installé.
Résultat de vingt-cinq ans de recherche, le système consiste à faire migrer des ions lithium entre différentes couches appliquées sur un vitrage classique ou isolant par stimulation électrique. C'est cette migration qui fait varier la teinte du vitrage et donc la transmission lumineuse de 1 à 60 %, tout en préservant la transparence.
